Living in the Languedoc:   Driving:   Road Signs

The signs with a town's name on it (black lettering on a white pannel with a red border) that you see on entering a town in France acts as a 50km/h sign. A similar sign but with a bar through it, that you will see on exiting a town, cancels this limit (but watch out for any explicit speed restrictions).
